After School Groups Have a great time learning and building your skills in improvisation, acting, and movement while exploring issues important to the group members. There will be opportunities for the groups to perform. Contact Jodi for current group details, including fees or to inquire about forming a new group.
![]() In-School Groups and Residencies ActingOut offers regular classes or programming for classes during the school day which are tailored to meet the needs of specific student populations. Groups will. . . • Receive extensive performance training • Build self-esteem. • Develop resistance, decision-making, communication and conflict resolution skills. • Explore issues of concern including topics such as parent/child communication, affects of AIDS/HIV on youth, affects of Poverty and Class on youth, relationship issues, substance abuse, sex, diversity and many more. • Find support and a safe space to explore these issues. Contact the ActingOut Coordinator if you are interested in having them for an in-school residency. This could include: • One day performance with an ActingOut troupe. • Classroom facilitation to explore a specific issue for one or more days. • Creation of a performance piece by class members for a larger school audience.
Stage Combat Skills Groups ActingOut also offers training in stage combat, a performance skill which may appeal to students who have little to no experience with theater or who face greater challenges in their every day lives. Stage combat is the technique of portraying theatrical violence. It is a fun and energetic skill which requires trust, self-control, and focuses on safety and skills in other performance areas such as storytelling, directing, choreography, and general acting. Contact Jodi for more information.
